SPOORNET HAS taken drastic measures against employees undertaking international trips, and using company cellphones and credit cards. Budgets have been introduced in all instances, and will be strictly adhered to, says chief executive officer Zandile Jakavula.
We have had people at all types of managerial levels arranging trips both overseas and regionally which are often unnecessary. In future every application for a trip of any nature will be monitored and only those we feel are essential will be approved.
This is one way in which we are going to save a good deal of finance. Others are in the indiscriminate use of cellphones and credit cards which has happened in the past, he says.
Personnel issued with cellphones have all been advised of the individual limit placed on the phone in their possession. They can use it as much as they like, says Jakavula, but the limit will apply. After that it comes off their salary. If they want to call uncles and aunts, they have to pay for it.
Credit cards have also been abused. Now one credit card will be issued to those who qualify. On a monthly basis, all cardholders will have to submit to their seniors the reconciliation.
