On 28 June 2013 the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Elizabeth Thabethe, said that South Africa and Ghana were committed to fast-tracking the implementation of the Economic and Technical Co-operation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed in 2011. According to the MOU, the two countries pledged to intensify efforts for the promotion of bilateral trade, capacity-building and infrastructure development. Thabethe was addressing a South Africa-Ghana Business Seminar in Accra, Ghana.
