SA and Mozambique have agreed to share a border post to speed up transit between the two countries as part of the Maputo corridor project.
Transport department officials said last week the integrated border post would clear goods and people through a one stop facility, rather than forcing them to be processed on both sides of the border as is presently the case.
The Ressano Garcia/ Komatipoort post is frequently the scene of delays, particularly during the holiday period.
A secure transit area could be established to provide for single customs procedure, duty free shops and other economic activities.
