The Scottish Africa Business Association (Saba) has announced a trade mission to Kenya from 12 to 16 May 2025, aiming to open new avenues of collaboration for Scottish companies across key sectors.
The mission will focus on fostering partnerships in energy, education, and the maritime and blue economy sectors. Delegates will engage in business-to-business (B2B) meetings, round tables, site visits, and networking events, providing prime opportunities for business expansion and knowledge exchange.
"SABA’s trade mission to Kenya will feature a comprehensive programme designed to maximise value for participants," said Seona Shand, chief operating officer at Saba.
"Our participants will have unparalleled opportunities to build lasting business relationships."
Kenya, East Africa's largest economy, serves as a gateway to a regional market of over 450 million people. With a resilient economic base and a commitment to sustainability, it presents fertile ground for Scottish businesses seeking international growth.
Energy, particularly renewable solutions, will be a central theme of the mission. With Kenya generating over 90% of its electricity from renewable sources, Scottish firms specialising in wind, solar, geothermal, and tidal energy are well-placed to explore collaborative ventures.
Education and skills development also feature prominently. Building on established educational links, the delegation will explore opportunities in vocational training, university partnerships, and skills development initiatives to support Kenya's burgeoning youth population.
The mission will also delve into Kenya's maritime and blue economy sectors. With an extensive coastline and rich marine resources, areas such as aquaculture, fisheries, marine transport, and port logistics offer significant potential for sustainable growth.
