Maersk has confirmed that, as of November the São Paulo-serving Port of Santos will be excluded from the South America-Africa Triangle (SAT) service operated by its Gemini Cooperation vessel-sharing partner, Hapag-Lloyd.
Part of West Africa East Coast service (WAFEX), “Hapag-Lloyd decided to remove the Port of Santos from the SAT service rotation,” said Maersk.
Whereas the old WAFEX rotation used to go from Durban to the ports of Santos, Paranaguá and Itajai before routing back to Durban, Santos will be left out of the service from the end of October.
The Danish line said the last vessel to call at Santos would be Acastos on October 23.
“Despite this change, Maersk remains committed to ensuring your cargo movement. We have activated the alternative routing solutions to and from Santos, leveraging our global network to minimize any disruption to your supply chain,” Maersk said.
The line requested that any shippers affected by the omission of Santos get in touch with Maersk.
“Should you have any specific routing needs or require assistance in planning your shipments, please do not hesitate to reach out.”
