The SA Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff) and the Professional Body for Supply Chain Management (Sapics) will host the 45th Sapics conference in Cape Town from June 11-14.

The event, to be held at the Century City Conference Centre, will explore the latest trends, innovations and recommended best practices in the supply chain industry.

It will bring together industry experts from across the supply chain industry, including thought leaders, executives, managers, logistics specialists, procurement professionals, technology enthusiasts and other professionals from various sectors to share insights, participate in interactive discussions, and collaborate on shaping the future of supply chain management. The conference programme can be accessed here.

Saaff CEO Dr Juanita Maree believes the conference is an essential opportunity to learn more about mitigating the risks and succeed in today's challenging and constantly changing environment.

"Supply chain management is a constantly changing and evolving profession; thus it is essential for all supply chain professionals to keep updating their skills sets and knowledge and honing their expertise,” said Sapics president MJ Shoemaker.

The programme covers:

  • Artificial Intelligence – practical use in supply chain.
  • View on the AfCTFA rollout, the uptake, current benefits, and long-term impact.
  • Rail policy: how do we link the current rail decay with the possibility of bringing in new private sector role players – an open, transparent process?  A private-public sector debate on the structure.
  • How will the World Logistics Passport strengthen and bring change in the current landscapes of industries in SEZs and IDZs.
  • View on corridors and how they can promote trade growth.
  • Western Cape Development & Trade Growth: How do we create an effective multi-nodal structure in the Western Cape as a good pilot study to learn from?
  • The ESG score – why this is important to organisations.
  • ICFF – Institute for Customs & Freight Forwarders – Professionalising the freight forwarding industry.
  • There are not enough women in supply chain leadership – how do we accelerate progress and break down barriers?
