South African-produced goods and services will be exhibited at the Japan 2023 Food and Beverage Exhibition (Foodex), facilitating new trade opportunities, according to South African Ambassador to Japan, Smuts Ngonyama.

Foodex has been one of the biggest annual food and beverage trade shows in Asia since 1976, and the South African Pavilion exhibit debuted yesterday in Tokyo, serving a US$700 billion Japanese food market and profitable Asian markets.

“The South African Pavilion offers an incredible opportunity for us to introduce our unique and high-quality food products to a global audience. Our pavilion features a variety of products, including premium wines, rooibos tea, dried fruit, nuts, and various other artisanal food products,” said Ngonyama.

Ngonyama believes that Foodex will provide a prolific platform that will assist South Africa to establish new international trade relationships and opportunities that could invigorate the country’s economic growth.

“This is a great platform for us to showcase our products. I am sure that people who visit our pavilion will be impressed by the quality of the products that we have on display. I am looking forward to seeing the positive outcomes of the South African Pavilion's participation at Foodex,” said Ngonyama. – SAnews.gov.za
