RFA convention 2024: inspiring call to action

Cometh the hour, cometh the trucker ... remember that you are my man in the arena. With these words Road Freight Association (RFA) chairperson Penwell Lunga opened the 2024 RFA Convention and called truckers across the country to action. Themed "Changing the Rhythm of Trucking", this year’s annual convention brought together industry leaders, professionals, and stakeholders at the Arabella Hotel in Hermanus, Western Cape. With a jam-packed and insightful programme, it enabled industry expertsfrom across the spectrum to tackle tough topics, making the convention a crucial platform for discussing and debating issues impacting road freight. Additionally, it facilitated networking through various social activities, including golf and a glitzy gala dinner. RFA chairman Penwell Lunga. RFA Chairman Gavin Kelly received a book from the one and only Evita Bezuidenhout! Andile Luke from Unitrans, accompanied by his wife Sibongile, joined Lazarus Bereda of RCL Foods, Sugar & Milling, along with his wife Delisile. Shantal Singh of the RFA and radio host and television presenter Jeremy Maggs. Easyclear’s Michael Henning, Jodi Haigh and CJ Pagel. Prof. Jan Havenga, a director at the GAIN Group, spoke about the demand for efficient logistics services in South Africa. Devon Palanee, executive director of Athena, shared how companies can unleash the power of their B-BBEE compliance. Liesl de Wet, RFA chairperson green transport working group. Louise Wiggett of Global Trade Solution urged operators to consider becoming AEO accredited.
