The SA Express Parcels Association (Saepa) has commissioned skills development specialist Juliette Fourie of Metro Minds to conduct research that will establish scarce and critical - or hard-to-fill-vacancies (HTFV) – in the industry.
The research will identify those occupations that companies find challenging to resource with the required skills, says Saepa CEO Garry Marshall.
It will cover the broader industry, embracing forwarding and clearing as well as shipping and is critical for use by the Transport Education Training Authority (Teta).
“Discretionary grant funding is directly linked to HTFVs so we need to ensure our priorities are on the list,” says Marshall. “That way, when the research confirms what our HTFVs are, funding from Teta can be channelled appropriately towards them.”
