Powership to supply electricity to Moz and Zambia

A 110 megawatt-capacity Turkish powership moored at the Port of Nacala in northern Mozambique is due to start supplying electricity to that region and overborder to Zambia this month.

The Liberian-flagged MV Karadeniz PowerShip Irem Sultan, operated by the Istanbul-based Karadeniz PowerShip Company, will remain on station for two years.

FTWO has suggested in a past issue that such a power source may be able to supply cheaper electricity to SA than Eskom’s hideously expensive diesel-powered generators
