THERE WILL be no increase in import and export wharfage tariffs at South African ports this year, but port and berth dues are to be increased by 7% and marine services by 9%, in a scale of new tariffs announced by Portnet to take effect on April 1.
As part of its Operations Upgrade, Portnet has announced that container handling tariffs, including breakbulk berths will be increased by 9% and breakbulk handling by 6%.
Ship repair facilities go up by 10%, coastal wharfage by 6% and transhipment wharfage by 9%.
Tug and berthing services, pilotage, including pilotage tariffs where helicopters are used, are still being examined and will be announced in due course.
Bulk terminals in individual instances will advise their charges, as will individual ports in respect of road transport services.
