THE ROLL-OUT date for the Corebis terminal handling charge (THC) system has been postponed as Portnet sorts out some system changes proposed by the shipping line customer base. "This," said Dave Rennie, c.e.o. of Unicorn Shipping and chairman of the Container Liner Operators Forum, "requires certain enhancements to the system." Some of the Cosmos (the basic Portnet system) people were in Port Elizabeth last week working on the THC test system installed there. "But," Rennie added, "they wisely didn't put a date on when it will be finished." Better no date, than dates which canÕt be met, is how he sees it. "More towards the year-end than the middle of it", is Rennie's forecast. This because the plan is to complete the system alterations in PE - run it for 30-days, then roll out to Cape Town first. "Give it another 30-day bedding-in period," said Rennie, "then it comes to Durban."
