Several trucks were among the 40 vehicles recovered during a police sting in the North West province, the SA Police Service has revealed.
The Vehicle Crime Investigation Units (VCIU) arrested 28 suspects and recovered 40 vehicles, suspected of having been stolen.
It was a joint effort by VCI Units from Rustenburg, Lehurutshe, Klerksdorp and Mahikeng and was conducted between December 1, 2020 and January 22. “The objective of this operation was mainly to disrupt carjacking and motor vehicle theft activities in the province and follow up on information that was provided by sources regarding these activities,” a spokesman said.
Vehicles confiscated range from sedans, light delivery vehicles (LDVs), light passenger vehicles (Combis), trucks and trailers to motorbikes. The total value of all confiscated vehicles is estimated to be more than R5 000 000.00.
