Kingfisher Freight Services is
developing new business in
East Africa – including Burundi,
Uganda, South Sudan and the
Democratic Republic of Congo
(DRC) – and is also eyeing
expansion into the north of Africa.
“Economies in these regions
are growing and there are rapid
trade developments which logistics
operators can take advantage of,”
said Alwyn Nel, MD of Kingfisher.
He told FTW that the company had
been planning to expand its services
to these regions for “some time”
but that they needed to establish
the right partnerships with agents
on the ground first. “We got good
referrals from our global partners,”
he said.
He added that Kingfisher’s West
African business had also grown.
“The opportunities for growth into
Africa are endless, provided you
have partners who can assist you
to provide the right levels of service
and infrastructure,” said Nel.
