The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) has issued an important notice to any interested party that makes use of, or intends to make use of, its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) group schemes.
With effect from 01 April 2011, this is no April Fool, the dti will be introducing new rules for its EMIA group schemes.
The EMIA group schemes are divided into two groups, namely Individual Assistance, and Group Assistance.
The Individual Assistance consists of (i) Primary Export Market Research and Foreign Direct Investment Research Scheme; (ii) Individual Inward-Bound Mission; (iii) Individual Exhibitions and Instore Promotions; (iv) Sector-Specific Assistance Schemes; (ivA) Generic Funding; (ivB) Project Funding; and (ivC) Project Funding for Emerging Exporters.
The Group Assistance consists of (i) National Pavilions; (ii) Outward-Selling Trade Missions; (iii) Outward Investment Recruitment Missions; (iv) Inward-Buying Trade Missions; and (v) Inward Investment Missions.
