Namibian importers and their agents are able to co-load LCL (less than container load) freight out of Hamburg through a neutral service introduced by Transworld Cargo. The company decided to provide the service because a long-term downturn in the economies of Namibia and its neighbours has seen a downturn in demand for full container loads.

“Transworld has the hubs and the network to provide the service in order to support importers in the region. Our newest addition to the network is the extension of our sea consolidation service from Hamburg to Zambia’s capital Lusaka. “We work with both agents and individual clients. For agents we provide neutral documents, in order to ensure that they maintain their relationship with their customers,” he says. For importers the advantages are that the cargo is landed in Walvis Bay, instead of being routed through South Africa.
