Namibia hosts Sacu headquarters

THE HQ for the Southern African Customs Union (Sacu) is now permanently housed in Windhoek in Namibia. An agreement - part of the new Sacu treaty that took effect in 2004 – has been signed to formalise Namibia’s hosting of the union’s headquarters. Minister of finance, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, told the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation that the agreement recognised that the common external tariff was a policy to aid development in the region - and completely changed the revenue sharing formula.
