THE NACALA rail
corridor to Malawi is "going like a train",
says Dave Sly of Unifeeder in Harare. The line is working to capacity and the only limitation is the
shortage of rolling stock.
"We are working to increase the amount of rolling stock on the
corridor," says Sly.
"The traffic is at its limit of 640 TEU a month and we could do more if the wagons were there.
"One administrative
difficulty that still has to be overcome is agreement on privatisation of Nacala, which the
consortium CDN has been trying to resolve for a year.
It is hoped this will be achieved within the next few months.
