The proposed review of the customs duty on lysine and its esters, salts thereof, classifiable under tariff subheading 2922.41, and feed supplements, containing by mass, 40% or more lysine, whether or not containing added antibiotics or added melengestrol, classifiable under tariff subheading 2309.90.65, from its current rate of customs duty of 10% ad valorem to free of customs duty. The application was initiated by the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), who reasoned that SA Bioproducts (Pty) Ltd indicated that it had discontinued the production of lysine in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU). Comment is due by 05 August 2011.
