LUFTHANSA CARGO is stepping up investment in aviation security, and its Johannesburg station is one of the focus points. Apart from structural conversion, additional alarm systems will be installed and a new security service appointed. New interventions in
the cargo complexes at Munich and Frankfurt Airports from January 2007 will include a combination of cutting-edge, x-ray and explosives detection systems. “Munich and Frankfurt will serve as model stations showcasing new technologies in airfreight security,” said Karl-Heinz Koepfle, Lufthansa Cargo board member operations.
