INTERNATIONAL INSPECTION company ITS will invest US$1-m in new IT systems designed to speed up preshipment inspection (PSI) and provide importers and exporters with additional information and services.
The investment is focused specifically on the needs of PSI. The new system will provide importers and exporters with their own dedicated website where they will be able to check file status at any time of the day or night. It will also automatically send the shipper a daily email or fax confirming the status of all outstanding files. In this way importers will instantly be able to see how an import is progressing, said ITS vice president Rob Dilworth.
The website is due to be launched during August. As a security measure importers will be given a secure login and password.
It will also provide information on import/export trading and details of all ITS offices worldwide.
