‘It takes a lot more than BEE to win business’

NEW EMPOWERMENT companies should not believe that their status opens up a Pandora’s box of business, says Simesonke MD George Khumalo. “Logistics is an integral and important part of any production and marketing process. Many companies have long histories and have established trust in their existing logistics partners’ capacity to deliver. This is understandable, so the new companies have to really prove their capacity and commitment to establish an empowerment business that will be an adequate player against entrenched competitors,” he added. He said that the economy had entered a five to ten year period of empowerment. This would change not only the way companies were structured and remunerated staff and executives, but also how they shared profits and how convincing they were in marketing drives.
