Interesting stats on agriculture’s contribution to GDP

While the agricultural industry bucked the trend last year and expanded production by 13.1%, a sector breakdown makes for interesting reading.

Figures recently released by the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP), and published in the always-informative weekly newsletter produced by Citrus Growers’ Association CEO Justin Chadwick, reveal that the maize industry was a significant leader, followed by eggs at about 13%, and citrus at around 10%.

Subtropical fruit showed the biggest decline.
