A South African electric vehicle (EV) innovator which has developed its market for leased commercial vehicles and related engine components for smaller delivery applications, will extend its fleet to 105 vehicles.
Everlectric, which currently has a fleet of 55 vehicles, counts retail giant Woolworths as one of its clients.
Through the bundling of commercial EVs, a charging infrastructure network, free charging capacity, and an enabling internet-of-things platform, the company seeks to break down the resistance in the delivery sector towards EVs.
It believes its value proposition is its 100% carbon-free service offering – made possible through solar technology.
Where solar energy is not viable, the company says it offsets 100% of its carbon emissions as it journeys towards a greener energy-efficient logistics solution.
The company’s business model is operationally competitive and will have a significant influence on the logistics and transportation industry in South Africa over the next decade – as more logistics companies look to cost-saving options and an environmentally-friendly approach to doing business, says Everlectric director, Ndia Magadagela.
Globally, there is a fundamental shift to more sustainable business practices across sectors, including in logistics which, to date, has had limited viable options to decarbonise fleets.
