Indonesia Ceramic flags, Paving, and Wall Tiles Safeguard Investigation Initiated

On 3 April Indonesia notified the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Committee on Safeguards that it had initiated on 29 March a safeguard investigation on ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles; ceramic mosaic cubes and the like, whether or not on a backing, classifiable in various tariff subheadings in tariff heading 6907.

A safeguard investigation seeks to determine whether increased product imports are causing, or are threatening to cause, serious injury to a domestic industry. During a safeguard investigation, importers, exporters and other interested parties can present evidence and views and respond to the presentations of other parties.

Indonesia will conduct a hearing in order to provide opportunities for those WTO members who have a substantial interest to present their evidence and views. A hearing is scheduled to be held on 20 April.
