September stats reveal continued airfreight growth at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
“Exports registered a robust 14% year-on-year growth, continuing to lead the growth in cargo volume,” said an HKIA spokesperson. “Amongst the key trading regions, cargo throughput to Europe and Southeast Asia increased the most significantly.”
The airport handled 430 000 tonnes of cargo during the month, rising by 9.1% in comparison to the same period in 2016.
Cargo volumes saw a year-on-year increase of 10.9% to 3.58 million tonnes over the first nine months of 2017 and on a rolling 12-month basis handled 4.87 million tonnes of cargo, registering a growth of 10.2%.
