Negotiations between airport security company Guardforce International Transportation and Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) are currently under way “to sort out the present problems that have led to the company considering closing its doors”, according to a statement released last week by Guardforce. While negotiations were yet to be concluded when this issue went to press, managing director Precious Nkosi said in her statement that they were hopeful of a resolution this week.“If the negotiations are successful there will be no need to continue with the retrenchment consultations and we can continue with the business as normal.”In early January Guardforce announced that due to a problem with Acsa over permits, the company would be forced to close its doors on February 6, resulting in the loss of more than 70 jobs.At the end of January it rescinded its notice of termination.
