Step by step the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement is moving forward.
In the latest development, Secretary-General Wamkele Mene has revealed that the budget of the secretariat has been approved.
Quoted in news portal GhanaWeb, he said this paved the way for the secretariat to start advertising for various vacant positions in order to get qualified persons to fill all the posts.
During a recent media briefing, he said that in the next few weeks advertising would begin for positions both at professional level and for support staff.
Mentorship will be provided for young trained professionals.
“The idea is to build the spirit of young country professionals so that after the period that they spend with us they can either be absorbed into the secretariat or they can join the private sector,” he said.
AfCFTA was scheduled to come into force in July but due to Covid the launch date has now been postponed to January.
