Changing its name from
Bak Storage to Bak
Logistics in November 2009
was more than a marketing
exercise – it reflects
the range of services
and facilities offered in
Zimbabwe by the company,
says Moses Kachunda,
general manager operations
and marketing.
“We have one of the
largest warehouses in
southern Africa, with over
72 000m² under roof, a
container depot, bonded
warehouse, and provide
customs clearing services,”
says Kachunda.
Bak’s 6 000 TEU
container depot is a fully
operational dry port, with
four gantries capable of
stacking fully loaded
containers up to four high.
A wholly owned
subsidiary of the Tobacco
Sales Limited (TSL) group,
Bak has branches and
warehouses in Harare,
Bulawayo, Masvingo,
Mutare, and Gweru in
addition to its giant three
Harare complexes.
“We provide a transit hub
for Zambia, the Democratic
Republic of Congo and
Malawi,” says Kachunda.
The Harare complex
has bonded and transit
warehousing facilities, and
handles both road and rail
freight.
