EXPRESS CLEARING and Forwarding Logistics has successfully broken into the vehicle market from China and is currently moving volumes of 400-500 vehicles a month, says sales executive Bela Steyn. Handling a range of vehicles – from mini-taxis and sedans to LDVs and buses – Steyn says the market is growing at the rate of 1 000 vehicles a month. The company’s Cape Town office and warehousing facilities serve its growing client base in the region, providing customs clearance and forwarding for imported vehicles and a range of other imports and exports. “We now have offices in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town and are considering Port Elizabeth,” says Steyn. Express Clearing has established a network of agents in the Far East, Brazil and African states. “We handle motor vehicles, computers, building materials and machinery for the most part. About 90% of our vehicle imports are destined for Gauteng and Durban.” In February this year the company was named “The Best Africa Agent” by an international grouping of freight forwarders. “We are a small company in a big industry,” says Steyn. “Our membership of the grouping gave us the global muscle to become more competitive. We were put under scrutiny before achieving the award and are very proud of it.”
