Indian fresh fruit producer, IG International, is set to import Alphonso mangoes from South Africa ahead of India’s festive season.
Tarun Arora, director of finance and operations at IG International, pointed out that while India was the world’s largest mango producer, this highly prized festive season fruit was not available in India at this time of the year.
The mangoes are consumed in a number of ways, including as an ingredient in achaar, sherbets, ice cream and lassi.
