Five countries in the European Union (EU) have been threatened with court action unless they accelerate the merging of their national air corridors within two months.
The European Commission (EC) gave Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands that period of grace to finish implementing a “functional airspace block”.
This concept was created in 2013 to shorten flight paths by aligning airspace around traffic flows, not state borders.
