The role and impact of energy storage in Africa will come under the spotlight at the annual ‘Africa Energy Indaba 2021’ to be held virtually from March 1-5.
In the key focus session - ‘Is energy storage the key to energy access?’- the panel will discuss what technology is available to rapidly increase the acceptance of wind and solar energy resources as significant players at utility scale.
Energy storage, the capture of energy produced at one time for use at a later stage to reduce imbalances between energy demand and energy production, is high on the agenda for emerging economies.
Projects are under development in various parts of the world thanks to the reduction of the technology’s costs and its necessity to manage electricity networks and facilitate renewable energy growth.
“Energy storage technologies are viewed as a potential game-changer for widespread adoption of renewable energy generation throughout Africa,” according to the organisers, Siyenza Events.
