The end of criminality in our industry

My wish would be to see the end of corruption, fraud and theft in the supply chain. Think it’s impossible? Maybe not. There is a buzzword around called blockchain and a new industry called 4IR, both of which are calling for the digitization of paper systems and a transparent ledger of all transactions. Everyone is talking about it but nobody is doing anything about it. More and more systems are being converted to SaaS (Software as a Service) or web based. The technology is capable of digitizing, not only the freight industry, but all industries. If everyone made use of this, industry would stop carrying cash and the supply chain would fall into the habit of transacting using the block chain methodology, thereby creating visibility for the actual cost of goods from manufacturers to end consumers. How much is corruption costing world economies? There are hints, but nobody really can accurately estimate the actual cost. How much corruption is added to the fuel or transport costs and how much is the end-consumer actually paying for corruption in the end? Is this an intangible wish? Not really, this is a focus-driven end goal that could be achieved if everyone became inclusive in the idea.
