EMIRATES SKY Cargo, the freight division of Emirates Airline, achieved a 22% increase in revenue and 23% increase in tonnage uplifted for the financial year 1996/97.

The airline was able to build up its business by the conversion of certain commodities from ocean to air, according to senior general manager cargo, Ram Menen.

In the year under review the division uplifted 159 000 tonnes of freight and increased its contribution to total airline revenue to 15,9% from 15,3% in 1995/96.
