On 24 May the South African Revenue Service (Sars) announced the deletion of tariff subheading 6210.10.20 “Disposable panties of fabrics of heading 56.03”, and the insertion of tariff subheading 6210.10.50 “Disposable underwear of fabrics of heading 56.03” in Part 1 of Schedule No.1 of the Act, 1964 “Ordinary Customs Duty”.
The reasoning was to review the description from “disposable panties” to “disposable underwear” as well as increase the “General” and “MERCOSUR” rate of customs duty from free to 40% ad valorem and it can be found in Itac Report No.598.
