Ocean Network Express (ONE) last week resumed discharge operations and inspection of the ONE Apus which ran aground on November 30 losing 1 816 containers overboard.

Work resumed on January 5 and continues to proceed steadily, according to an advisory from the line. By January 7 a total of 212 boxes had been safely discharged. “Transloading of the discharged, damaged containers has commenced and is ongoing.”

ONE says customers will be individually contacted for appropriate cargo arrangements where necessary, once cargo information is available.

The vessel was en route from Yantian, China to Long Beach, USA when it encountered gale-force winds and large swells around 1 600 nautical miles northwest of Hawaii. The severe weather conditions caused the vessel to roll heavily, causing the containers to dislodge and fall into the ocean.
