The Minister of Transport, in terms of the South African Maritime and Aeronautical Search and Rescue Act, designated two centres as Rescue Co-Ordination Centres, nine as Maritime Rescue Sub-Centres, and 18 as Secondary Maritime Rescue Sub-Centres.
