Proposed integration of

data from Easyclear to the

Mozambican single window

customs system MCNet will help

reduce border delays and provide

greater transparency for importers

and exporters.

“Discussions are at an advanced

stage and we expect to start testing

this quite soon,” says Michael

Henning, general

manager of Easyclear.

“The objective is to

provide a seamless

transfer of data from

an export declaration

out of South Africa

to create the import

declaration into

Mozambique by

means of uploading

this data from Easyclear to MCNet

with as little interference as

possible,” he says.

A similar system is already in

place between Easyclear and the

revenue authorities of Namibia

and Lesotho, both of which use

Asyworld.

This is part of a general trend

towards using technology to

simplify and create supply chain

visibility.

“There are always opportunities

to automate processes that

eliminate duplicate data capture

and streamline the supply chain,

thus improving

efficiencies and

reducing costs,” he

says.

The decision

to provide a link

between Easyclear

and MCNet

was taken after

Easyclear identified

the need.

“We take the time needed to

understand business needs and

challenges before embarking

on a development project that

will assist a client to meet their

specific need,” he says.

INSERT & CAPTION

The objective is to

provide a seamless

transfer of data.

– Michael Henning
