Construction work on phase one of the Atlantic Multipurpose Terminal at the Port of Takoradi has begun.
Wholly owned Ghanaian business Ibistek Company has been contracted to build the terminal which will have a draught of -16m and a quay length of 600m in the initial phase.
“It will cater for all forms of cargo, especially containerised cargo,” said director of the Port of Takoradi, Ebenezer Afadzi.
“Once the terminal is up and running we are hoping to be able to compete with other ports in West Africa,” he said.
