The government of the Ivory Coast has formally signed an agreement with APM Terminals, Bolloré Africa Logistics and French-based construction firm Bouygues to build and operate a new terminal in the Port of Abidjan. APM reports that the terminal, to be known as TC2, will be the second in operation at the West African port, which handled approximately 600 000 TEU in 2012. With a quay length of 1 100 metres and a depth of 18 metres, the new box facility will be capable of accommodating vessels measuring up to 350 metres. Scheduled to open in 2018, TC2 is intended to create new major West African shipping hub.
