China donates US$1m to support implementation of trade agreement

WTO director-general Roberto Azevêdo and Chinese ambassador, Zhang Xiangchen.

China last week donated US$1 million to the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) facility.

Chinese ambassador Zhang Xiangchen said that the donation was in support of full implementation of the WTO’s TFA by all its members and was specifically aimed at helping developing and least-developed countries implementthe agreement.

“China’s generous donation will be essential to ensure that the poorest WTO members can benefit fully from the WTO’s TFA and the boost to their trading potential that the agreement can deliver,” said WTO director-general Roberto Azevêdo.
