The Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, has launched the Mombasa Port Community Charter and the performance dashboard.

This is designed to enhance infrastructural development and improve efficiency in cargo clearing, by bringing together 24 agencies that will coordinate activities at the port.

The Charter is a single window expected to double East African trade by the year 2016.

It is expected to enhance transport along the Northern Corridor from the Port of Mombasa to Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Southern Sudan and Eastern DRC.
