The AP Moller Maersk Group is hiving off Safmarine’s MPV breakbulk division to make it a standalone operation within the APMM Group. A new dedicated MPV agency network is in the process of being set up.
The first to be named is the Royal Burger Group which will represent
Safmarine MPV in Belgium and the Netherlands, effective with the sailing of the Safmarine Shaba, scheduled to load in Antwerp on February 15.
Safmarine MPV connects Europe, USA and South Africa directly with the main oil and gas ports along the West African coast.
Royal Burger Group is a European group headquartered in Rotterdam and specialises in maritime and logistics services.
This development follows last year’s integration of Safmarine’s container operations into the Maersk Line stable, while retaining its strong brand identity in the market.
