On 07 August the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced the insertion, with retrospective effect from 01 January 2020, Part 3F of Schedule No.1 to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 “Environmental Levy on Carbon Emissions” by the substitution of items under heading 157.00/9903.00 to increase the rate of Environmental Levy on carbon emissions from R120/t CO2 emissions to R127/t CO2 emissions.
By the substitution of the following the Environmental Levy Items, with the Rate of Environmental Levy being “R120/t CO2e emissions”.
