THE CAPE Town Harbour Carriers' Association (CTHCA) – a similar body to the long-established Durban equivalent – is in the process of being established.
According to one of the motivators of the new association, Peter Newton of Seaboard, a Section 21 company has been purchased as the foundation for the CTHCA.
“We are now working on setting up all the legal liabilities and the like, and then intend to get things going,” he said.
The body is designed to provide the harbour carriers with a single, unified voice in their dealings with port authorities and customs.
