CAMEROON AIRLINES has become the inaugural customer of the country's first joint general sales agent/handler operation offering handling and cargo sales under one roof. Swissport Cargo Sales is now in full swing, says Swissport's South African marketing manager Blake Sclanders, with his company handling the warehouse and ramp operations, and Cargo Connection, the driving force in the combine, seeing to cargo sales from its Kempton Park offices. Cameroon Airlines flies twice a week from Johannesburg International Airport, using a Boeing 737-300. The airline has indicated that the larger 767 may be brought into service shortly. Negotiations with other carriers are in progress, says Sclanders, and an announcement of further contracts is imminent.
