Namibia’s Transport Minister John Mutorwa has voiced strong concern about ongoing violence in South Africa against foreign national truck drivers – with at least one Namibian driver a victim of last week’s protests.
According to a report in the Namibian Sun, the trucker was struck on the chin by a brick while driving in South Africa.
The report quotes an anonymous driver saying that drivers are now being robbed in parking bays and truck ports where vehicles are parked.
The violent strike was in protest against foreign national truck drivers working in South Africa’s road freight sector.
