There has been strong
international interest
in a turnkey tender for
the design, construction
and financing of a new
container terminal for
the port of Walvis Bay,
according to Namport
chief executive officer
Bisey Uirab.
To be built on
reclaimed land, the work
on the new container
terminal includes the
building of a quay wall,
the supply of ship-toshore
gantries, and
dredging of the quayside
and approach channels
where necessary.
At the close of the
tender on February 18,
fifteen companies had
submitted their bids.
“The tender evaluation
process commenced
immediately after the
tenders were opened
and is expected to be
completed in a few
months’ time,” said
Uirab.
