Bertling South Africa has made
history by becoming the first
company in the group to own its
office and warehouse space.
According to Marc Schweiger,
managing director of Bertling South
Africa, the South African venture is
a pioneering step for the company
which has always preferred to rent
office and warehouse space.
“We were spread over two
premises in Johannesburg and
decided a few years ago to move
to one facility. We could not really
find what we were looking for and
therefore decided to custom-build
something that suited our needs.”
Three years later Bertling South
Africa boasts a modern complex in
Bredell, Kempton Park, unlike any
other in the group.
The warehouse of 10 000 sqm
was designed to cater for Bertling’s
unique needs.
“It took two years to get the land
commercially zoned and another year
of construction.”
According to Schweiger, Bertling
is looking at owning more of its
properties across the globe with
the Americans now following suit
and moving into a Bertling-owned
property in July this year.
